Coffee Break

Well I figured that since this is a BLOG (remember BrewLOG) for Everything Brewed, and that I am sitting at Starbucks right now using their WiFi, I should make a note on coffee for this week. I have been here for about 3 hours now. It smells great, there is lively, non mainstream music playing and it is enjoyable. Although it can be expensive, professionally made coffee drinks offer rich flavors unavailable with most home model coffee machines.
Making espresso is as much science as process. Extracting maximum flavor from finely ground, perfectly roasted beans, through the proper application of pressure and heat, makes for some mighty tasty sippin. (and a pretty good caffeine buzz too).

Vacation Ale

Well I would like to start by saying that I am changing this blog to mean BrewLOG. That's right, this site will be devoted, as the URL would suggest, to Everything Brewed. Iced tea to Ice Wine. Hot sauce to Honey Lager. Anything that takes time to brew or even stew will be looked at here.
Today I pulled the first sample of my latest homebrew. I have called it my Vacation Ale because it was one of the tasks I completed during my vacation this past week. It is an American Amber with a slight hint of oak. That's probably because I put some oak chips in my secondary fermenter for about 3 days. I didn't want to over do it, just make in interesting.
It has an awesome amber color, a great carbonation level (kegged), and a nice hoppy finish. There are many pints left to pull so it will probably be a completely different beer in a month. Maybe I'll write about it again on the last glass.
